Privacy policy.

How CAIRN handles your personal information.

Last updated: 21 September 2026

1. Who is responsible

CAIRN is operated personally by Andy Aitken and Andrew Dallas in Scotland, rather than by a registered company. We jointly decide how personal information submitted to CAIRN is used and are responsible for its handling. This website introduces our outdoor planning idea and gathers interest, early-access sign-ups and enquiries; it does not sell products or services. This policy covers those website activities. It does not cover a future CAIRN app, which may need a separate notice.

For questions, privacy requests or to leave the waitlist, email cairnoutdoorz@gmail.com. This is the contact point for both operators. Both are responsible for handling privacy requests; you may exercise your rights against either operator. You can also use our contact page.

2. Information you provide

When you complete a form, we receive the information requested by that form, such as your name, email address, enquiry and any optional feedback. Required fields are identified on the form. Providing information is voluntary and is not a legal or contractual requirement. You can browse without submitting a form, but we need a contact address to reply or send requested updates.

Please avoid sending health information, passwords, payment details or other people’s personal information. This website does not offer payments, user accounts or live location tracking.

3. Why we use information

  • Waitlist and launch emails: to send the CAIRN updates you specifically request, on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or using an unsubscribe option in our emails. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful use.
  • Enquiries and feedback: to answer your message and understand interest in CAIRN, based on our legitimate interests in communicating with people who contact us and developing the project.
  • Security: technical information may be processed to deliver the site, prevent abuse and investigate faults, based on legitimate interests in operating a secure website.
  • Legal requirements: to meet a legal obligation where one applies.

Sending an enquiry does not sign you up for marketing. We do not use this website to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Forms, hosting and sharing

Our forms use Tally. Submissions are handled through the connected Tally account, rather than stored in the website’s page files. See Tally’s privacy policy and its data protection information.

The site is hosted using OpenAI Sites. Hosting and security services may process technical details such as IP addresses, browser information, request times and error logs.

Andy Aitken and Andrew Dallas may access information to run CAIRN. We use Google’s Gmail service for messages sent to cairnoutdoorz@gmail.com. Tally, our hosting providers and email services process information as needed to deliver their services. Information may also be disclosed where legally required. We do not sell personal information. Clicking Instagram or another external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

5. Where information is processed

Tally states that form responses are stored in Europe. Email, hosting and optional form integrations may involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. European storage of form responses does not mean all related processing stays in Europe. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on applicable UK adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual safeguards. You may contact us for information about safeguards that apply to your data.

6. How long information is kept

We retain submissions to the Founders Form and contact form in Tally for up to 12 months from submission, then delete them. You can withdraw consent to waitlist emails at any time; we will stop those emails when you do. You can also request earlier deletion, subject to any lawful reason we need to retain specific information.

The 12-month period applies to Tally form submissions. Separate email correspondence is retained only for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any necessary follow-up. A minimal record of an opt-out may be retained to avoid contacting you again. Records needed for a specific legal obligation or dispute may be kept for the relevant period. Hosting logs, provider backups and deletion processes follow the applicable service arrangements.

7. Cookies and browser storage

We have not added advertising pixels or analytics scripts to this website. Embedded forms and hosting services may use their own storage and technical information to deliver and protect their services.

The CAIRN website does not store form answers in your browser. We will obtain consent before enabling non-essential tracking where required.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your information, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation, and you can always object to direct marketing.

We may need proportionate information to verify your identity and will respond within the applicable legal time limit, normally one month.

You can raise a concern with the team or complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You do not need to contact us first.

9. Changes

We will update this page as the service develops and provide an appropriate notice if our use of personal information materially changes.
