Website terms.
Using the CAIRN website and joining the waitlist.
Last updated: 21 September 2026
1. About these terms
These terms cover the CAIRN interest-generation website. CAIRN is operated personally by Andy Aitken and Andrew Dallas in Scotland and is not currently a registered company. The website introduces our outdoor planning idea and collects expressions of interest and enquiries. No products or services are sold through this website. Contact both operators at cairnoutdoorz@gmail.com or use our contact page.
Please read these terms when using the website. They do not govern a future app, paid subscription or purchase. Any such service will have its own applicable terms before you commit to it.
2. A product in development
CAIRN is being developed. Feature descriptions, images and app screens illustrate our current plans and concepts. Features, availability and timings may change. This website does not provide live navigation, current weather forecasts or validated route recommendations.
3. Early access and enquiries
Joining the waitlist is free and expresses interest in CAIRN. It is not a purchase, reservation or guarantee of access, a launch date, a price or a particular feature. You can leave the waitlist at any time by contacting us.
Please provide accurate contact information and submit only material you are entitled to share. Sending an enquiry does not create a partnership or other commercial agreement. We cannot promise a particular response time.
4. Outdoor safety
Outdoor activities involve changing conditions and risks. Website content is general information, not personalised safety advice, a route assessment or an emergency service. Before a trip, check current weather and local guidance, access restrictions, your equipment and the abilities of everyone taking part. Do not rely on concept screens to navigate or assess whether a route is safe.
In an emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services. Nothing in these terms removes responsibilities or legal protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Acceptable use
Use the website lawfully. Do not attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious software, impersonate someone, or submit unlawful, abusive or infringing material. Do not use the forms for spam or to disclose someone else’s confidential information.
6. Content and ownership
Website text, branding, designs and photographs belong to their respective owners or are used with permission. You may view and share links to the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. Other copying or reuse requires the relevant owner’s permission unless the law permits it.
You retain ownership of material you send us. You allow us to use your feedback to consider and improve CAIRN and respond to you, subject to our privacy policy. Please do not send confidential business ideas unless we have agreed confidentiality separately.
7. External services and availability
Forms and external links may use services such as Tally and Instagram, which have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for external content simply because we link to it. This does not exclude any responsibility imposed on us by law.
We aim to keep the website accurate and available, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that every page is free of errors. We may update or temporarily suspend it for maintenance, security or development.
8. Responsibility and your rights
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Subject to those protections, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude responsibility simply because the website is free to use.
9. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains how information is handled. Reading or using this website does not itself constitute consent to marketing or non-essential tracking.
10. Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms as the website develops. The date above identifies the latest revision; changes will not retrospectively remove rights you already have.
These terms are governed by Scots law. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections of the law where you live and any right to bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us if a concern arises so we can try to resolve it.
